Settling Differences In handling Finances In The Family
In most families, spouses generally do not handle money the same way. The husband can be accustomed to saving money all his life and the wife can be more of a spender; or it can be the other way around. Problems can arise from these differences and it is something that should be resolved as early as possible.
It is a given that sustaining a family finance is important. But being able to spend your own money whenever and however you like is important as well. To resolve these issues, applying for a joint account for the family’s savings can bu put in place, an individual checking account for the husband and the wife can be used as each one’s source of funding.
This will prevent arguments over why the other is spending too much over something. If one wants to use his/her ‘personal’ money to purchase a car, while the other wants to use it to purchase home appliances, that can be done without any complications. Husband can save as much as he’d like, wife can spend as much as she’d like, and both not using up the family’s savings.
